Vegas 5-Day Sale Opens Sept 22: Book Before Convention Rush

Las Vegas is opening its biggest sale of the year at an unusual moment for the destination, and the timing tells you almost everything you need to know about how to use it. The Vegas 5-Day Sale runs from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, September 22 through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, September 26, with more than 180 offers across resorts, dining, shows and attractions, including room discounts of up to 60% at participating properties. Full offer details go live at VisitLasVegas.com's sale page when the window opens, and at least one Strip property, the SAHARA, has already confirmed its discounted stay dates run from September 27 through February 22, 2027, subject to blackout dates. Other resorts are expected to set their own stay windows within roughly that same range once the sale launches.
The reason the city is running this now comes down to a split in its own numbers. Las Vegas drew about 22.8 million visitors through July 2026, essentially flat versus the same period last year, while convention attendance over that same stretch climbed 11.2% to 3.9 million. Total occupied room nights barely moved, up just 0.2% year over year. In plain terms, overall leisure demand has stalled even as business travel keeps growing, and a five-day, destination-wide discount push is the city's way of pulling leisure travelers back into a market where visitor growth has gone flat.
That same split explains why the timing of any Vegas trip booked through this sale matters more than usual. Right on the sale's heels, the Strip heads into one of its most compressed convention stretches of the year: G2E runs September 28 to October 1 at the Venetian Expo, followed by NACS October 7-9, IMEX America at Mandalay Bay October 13-15, Money20/20 October 18-21, NBAA-BACE October 20-22, and SupplySide West October 26-30, before SEMA, ISSA and AAPEX fill most of November. That's nine major trade shows landing in roughly five to six weeks, each one pulling business travelers into hotels near its host venue and pushing room rates up around those specific dates, even at properties that aren't hosting the show themselves.
So the practical move is to treat this sale as a booking window, not a travel-date window. If your schedule is flexible, use the September 22-26 sale to lock in a leisure stay for dates that sit between or ahead of the convention crush, such as the days right after the sale closes but before G2E starts on September 28, or gaps between shows in October and November, rather than assuming any date through February will carry the same discounted rate. If a trip to Las Vegas for business coincides with any of these shows, book now regardless of the discount, since rooms near the Venetian, Mandalay Bay and the Las Vegas Convention Center will tighten fastest and prices there typically climb well before the show opens.
A few other things worth checking before you click confirm. The advertised savings are property-specific, not a single blanket discount, so compare the discounted rate against a normal rate for your actual travel dates rather than assuming every hotel on the Strip is 60% off. Remember that Nevada's resort fees still apply on top of any discounted room rate, typically $45 to $55 a night on Strip properties before the state's 13.38% lodging tax, so factor that into your total cost comparison rather than judging the deal on room rate alone; travelers with elite status in MGM Rewards or Caesars Rewards can often get that fee waived. And because blackout dates vary by resort, read the fine print for your specific property before booking rather than assuming the SAHARA's September 27-February 22 window applies everywhere.
Bottom line for anyone flying into Harry Reid International this fall or winter: this week's sale is a real opportunity to grab a discounted Strip stay, but a good rate is only good if your dates dodge the fall convention calendar. Book during the sale window, pick travel dates outside the nine-show stretch running late September through November if you can, and always check the total cost, resort fee and tax included, before comparing it to what you'd pay elsewhere.
