Spend 2 days discovering Rishikesh, India — Foothill climate milder than the plains below: warm summers (highs 32-36°C in May-June), a wet monsoon June-September that raises the Ganges, and cool, pleasant winters (highs 18-20°C, chilly nights near 5-8°C). September to April for pleasant trekking and rafting conditions (highs 20-30°C); the Ganges is at its highest and most thrilling for rafting just after monsoon (Sep-Oct). This itinerary blends Ganges white-water rafting (Shivpuri to Rishikesh), Kaudiyala rafting stretch, Laxman Jhula with free time to explore at your own pace, backed by round-trip flights, handpicked accommodation, and a dedicated travel consultant from enquiry through departure.
DAY 1
Land at Dehradun (Jolly Grant) Airport, nearest gateway (DED) and take your included private transfer to your hotel. With limited time on the ground, head straight out to Ganges white-water rafting (Shivpuri to Rishikesh) — Grade II-III rapids on the Ganges, the region's signature activity. Round off the evening with a welcome dinner introducing you to local flavors.
DAY 2
Start early with a visit to Kaudiyala rafting stretch — Longer, wilder rapids further upstream for experienced rafters. Grab a last taste of local life before your private transfer to DED for your onward flight.
Most foreign nationals require an Indian e-Visa applied for online before travel. Indian citizens need no visa, and OCI/PIO cardholders travel visa-free with a linked foreign passport — relevant for the many diaspora visitors who come specifically for yoga teacher-training programs.

Booked this as a solo trip and it was well paced. Parmarth Niketan Ashram in particular stood out. A couple of the transfers ran a little late but nothing that spoiled the trip.

Giant swing and flying fox, Jumpin Heights alone was worth the trip, but combined with Ganges white-water rafting (Shivpuri to Rishikesh) this itinerary really delivered. Breakfast at the hotel was good every day and the local guide was knowledgeable.

Rishikesh is stunning and this package covered the essentials well, especially The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia). The hotel could have been a little closer to the center but transport was easy.

We added a couple of optional activities beyond Parmarth Niketan Ashram and don't regret it. Good value for what was included, and the food recommendations from our guide were spot on.
